hello everyone i am a new poster but have been lurking for quite some time, i wanted to know if any of you ever heard the following illustrations at meetings.

1) when i was a kid going to spanish meetings here in so cal i often heard speakers talk about satan being like a roaring lion ready to devour all humanity, then i would here the illustration of how lions hunt by roaring towards the ground this way the roar went everywhere and the prey would be easy pickings.

problem with this is once i studied in the fourth grade how lions hunt, found out lionesses are the ones that hunt and rely solely on stealth, ambush, the element of surprise to bring down their prey.

You are correct in your understanding of how lions hunt. Your speaker was prolly counting on no one having actually looked it up.

On the brain thingy, I take it he was speaking bout the capacity for thought/memory/emotion? I don't think scientists have been able to really quantify the percent of resources used. Actually, we do use all of our brains, for running and regulating the rest of our body.

Special Happy Thanksgiving to those of you without family due to the WTBTS

i know thinks would be very different for me, if my family wasn't out with me or if i was df'd or if some friends from the hall didn't stay in touch or if i hadn't been able to make other friends.. i know that for some of you, the holiday season stinks because of being in limbo or being df'd and not making new friends yet or other reasons all related to the wtbts.. maybe you are alone without your family.

that is terrible knowing that in general this is a day that family is celebrated.. a huge (((hug))) to you then.

my apologies that life is like that for you this moment and i hope happiness runs you down and overtakes you very soon!.

many of the 'apostates' here believe in the ransom of jesus - and the command to partake of the 'communion' of the lords evening meal, right?

i have come to accept that that 'memorial' is simply a recognition of jesus' sacrifice.

This sounds alot like Abbie Hoffman and the Yippies ~~guerrilla~~ monkey warfare. Once upon a time, the Yippies tooks loads of US one dollar bills into the NYSE, and at a pre-determined time co-ordinate commenced to toss out the currency from the mezzanine. Rather than concentrate on business at hand, the buyers, runners and anyone else in the pit were near riot as they scrambled to recover this free falling cash. Cash value:hundreds or thousands. Hilarity and memories:Priceless.

in a recent thread someone said that bagpuss was a good name but didn't know what it meant.. bagpuss was a character from a childrens programme in the 1970s and is becoming popular again now.

i chose this name as like bagpuss i am soft,cuddlyand loyal, but will get the claws out when needed.. why did you choose your 'alias' and what does it tell me about you?

I'm a do it yourselfer. None of the therapists I have been to have been able to really help me with my suicidal depression. I was seriously considering ECT as a last resort...that or sucking the tailpipe of my bike. It was a live or die situation. I wondered if the JW thingy was the problem (husband from rabid family, both of us un dunked pushers, inactive for 8 years). Got the guts to look at internet, and found out it was!!!! This knowlege has saved my life, my depression was not bio-chem, was situational, and somewhat kindled. We have moved 600 miles from home, so the situation is gone! So is the fear (armageddon, shunning, etc). Also, the resentment is gone! Those witlesses love to foster resentments!

I have spent the last 4 years pretty much alone with infants, (husband travels) so writing my thoughts is an out of shape skill.

I did it myself, and will share the cake (knowlege and a loving life) I've baked with those I love and care about.

for my inlaws - yer damn right I'm a Jezebel! and my man is damn glad!

If the information on every sex offender were made public, would it prevent them from stiking again?

IMHO if sex offenders were executed after the first conviction, they would not be likely to re-offend. I can't find a study that can guarantee any success in 'curing' sex offenders. It is too ingrained in their behavior/personality/biochemistry? to change. Something in them is missing. I look at them the same as a rabid animal, and the best argument for capitol punishment.

in the u.k. the societies loans are interest free but they take control of the building once the loan has been completely repaid.
